In the center of the plate are the Tablets of the Law - Ten Commandments engraved on two tablets, five commandments on each Tablet. Only the beginning of each commandment is displayed: "I the Lord", "You shall have no", "You shall not swear", "Remember", "Honor", etc. Above the Tablets is illustrated the Crown of Torah ("Keter Torah") and the Tetragrammaton engraved on it. The Tetragrammaton is the four letter Hebrew word, the name of God most often used in the Hebrew Bible. Both sides of the Tablets are beautifully engraved with floral decorations.
The rim of the plate is engraved with floral decorations and two verses which describe the Introduction to the Law; "And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel" (Deuteronomy 4, verse 44), and "Moses commanded us a law an inheritance of the congregation of Jacob" (Deuteronomy 33, verse 4).
