Hanukkah Lamp - Algeria

A small hanging Hanukkah lamp of a model that was common in Algeria - Openwork backplate with a central vase of flowers and trefoil finial flanked by birds above a row of arched windows. On each side panel are a window and a Hamsa. Above the center is the Shamash (the servant light, removable). At the bottom, a row of eight oil basins with pinched ends.
Provenance: Estate of Ora and Mordechai Namir (Ora Namir served as a member of the Israeli Knesset, held ministry posts and served as the ambassador to China and Mongolia. Mordechai Namir served as the mayor of Tel Aviv and as a Knesset member and government minister).
