  • ADDITIONAL INFO

An exquisite copper dish made by Pal-Bell Co., an iconic Israeli design house founded by artist Maurice Ascalon. Featuring detailed Middle Eastern motifs etched in low relief, the bowl reflects the studio's signature blend of Judaic tradition and modernist elegance. This beautiful dish can be used for salt or honey in Rosh Hashanah.
Stamped on the base with Pal-Bell’s emblematic ibex logo and the words “Made in Israel / תוצרת ישראל”, this vintage piece captures the spirit of early Israeli craftsmanship. Ideal as a collector's item or decorative accent. Minor patina consistent with age.
Maurice Ascalon (1913-2003) was born in Hungary under the name of Moshe Klein. In 1928 he began studying art in Belgium and later in Milan, Italy. In 1934 he immigrated to the land of Israel. In the late 1930s, Ascalon founded an Israeli decorative arts manufacturing company, Pal-Bell, which produced trademark bronze and brass menorahs and other Judaic and secular decorative art and functional items that were exported worldwide. In 1956 he emigrated to the United States. At first he worked in New York and Los Angeles and then opened a studio in Philadelphia. Ascalon works have been exhibited at and are among the collections of institutions including the Jewish Museum (New York), the Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia, Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago, the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv, and the University of Judaism in Los Angeles.
